Help Educate
1500 Children
For only €25 per month you can help educate, house and feed around 1500 children over four years.
The Literacy for Livelihood project aims to address the literacy, numeracy and cultural needs of children unable to attend Chinese primary school. This will enable them to progress into the VISTA training program or to gain entrance to Chinese Middle School.
The project, which has the approval of the Chinese Government, is currently operating in a nomad tent during the summer months and in the private quarters of the monk-teachers of Ju Mohor Monastery during the winter months.
Currently there are 25 children enrolled, with 100 more children on a waiting list. They are already making excellent progress.
To provide education to as many children as possible, Vista plans to build an education centre. This will include classrooms and dormitories for the children, along with living quarters for the teachers.
The project will proceed over several stages, culminating in the building complex shown above and on the left.
Due to most people being nomads in this area, the children will be housed and fed during the teaching programme, reducing the economic burden on their parents.
We have funding to begin building in summer 2011, but are looking for donations to complete the work.
